Dori Gorman
Dori graduated with a BA from Baylor University in Waco, TX and a MDiv from Emmanuel Christian Seminary in Johnson City, TN. Prior to the YMCA she has worked in a variety of contexts, both internationally and across the USA. From 2010 to 2019 she co-planted and co-pastored a church in Chicago, IL. Five years ago she returned home to Nashville and joined the YMCA of Middle Tennessee, as the Association Chaplain. With over 180,000 members, 2,100 staff, and programs impacting over 10,000 kids – the reach of the Middle Tennessee Y is remarkable. As a Chaplain, Dori leads the Spirit and Mind Department, which aims to foster a culture of whole-person wellness throughout the Y by helping all staff, members and volunteers strengthen their spiritual and mental health.
Dori’s dad always told her, “Half of your work is what you do, and the other half is who you get to do it with.” Woven throughout Dori’s story you’ll find some incredible people, including her partner, husband and best friend, Rich, and their two growing and vibrant daughters, Charis (13) and Nia (10). They enjoy camping together, asking silly questions at dinner, cheering each other on at sporting events, and family movie nights. Personally, she loves anything outdoors, running, reading, and working a good puzzle.
